Top Tips To Recovery

Everyone is an individual. Fact. However anorexia leads people to take on practically identical habits and routines. As a result of this, the process of recovery benifits greatly from sharing advice on recovering.

The recovery journey will be one of the hardest you shall ever have to make in your life, but take it from someone who’s made it and has never looked back: IT IS WORTH IT.

What makes it difficult is that YOU alone have the make the crucial decisions to change your life and routines in order to regain your true self. NOBODY else can decide to shift your mind settings to accepting changes. NOBODY else except you can halt or prevent osteoporosis or bring back the chances of being able to bear a child. NOBODY except you can make the changes required to be able to live without anorexia. However, there are hands that can guide you and show you the way. So, here are some keys to the doors you shall need to step through if you have the determination to make a full recovery and join the many people living happily with fantastic careers and families, without a sight or sniff of anorexia to mar anything.

Set yourself realistic goals. If you fail the first time, persevere.

Focus on what you can and have achieved.

Make decisions about mealtimes with your family. If you don’t make structure for mealtimes, they will remain difficult times.

Don't be tempted to look at how much/little other people are eating. For the time being, you need to eat what will help you to become well, if you have a meal plan, stick to it. One day, you will be able to throw it away.

Talk to close family and friends about what is happening/what you are going through, in as much detail as you can. If they don't know, they won't be able to understand, e.g. if it makes you uncomfortable if someone mentions that you have eaten all of your dinner, mention to them that that you would rather they didn't say anything.

Cut back on your exercise. This is very important. Once you have boosted you food intake, and have gained a little weight, then it can be slowly invited back into your life.

Throw away your scales.
